Water is becoming scarce in Berlin and Brandenburg. Drought, rising consumption and new industrial settlements are increasingly causing disputes in the region over this elementary resource. What needs to happen? What could solutions look like? Despite average rainfall over the past two years, Berlin and Brandenburg, the German states with the lowest rainfall, are suffering from acute drought. New data shows the dramatic drop in groundwater levels over the last ten years - the consequences are drying up bodies of water, dying trees and increasingly frequent problems with drinking water supplies.
